Putting well-being at the heart of education

Music

Our schools wide well-being curriculum is centred around providing engaging and enriching activities that not only support our learners mental health, social skills and confidence, but also are there to be enjoyed.

What is Therapeutic Music?

Therapeutic music is the use of music to improve health outcomes, reduce stress, and enhance the quality of life. It can involve listening to music, playing instruments, or engaging in music-based activities.

Across our Inclusion school settings, learners have access to a wide variety of instruments to facilitate therapeutic music sessions, which can include:

– Piano

– Drum Kit

– GuitarsĀ  – both Electric and Acoustic

– Guitar Amps (Including those with a wah/volume pedal footswitch)

– Bass Guitar

– Ukuleles

– Cajon

– Percussive Instruments

– Electronic Accessories

Benefits of Therapeutic Music

There are many benefits to engaging with Therapeutic Music sessions. These can include:

– Reduces Stress and Anxiety: Engaging with music can lower cortisol levels and create a sense of calm.

– Enhances Cognitive Function: Music stimulates brain activity, improving memory and cognitive skills.

– Improves Emotional Well-being: Expressing oneself through music can help process emotions and improve mood.

– Promotes Physical Healing: Rhythmic and harmonic elements can aid in physical rehabilitation and pain management.

– Boosts Social Interaction: Group music sessions foster connection and communication among participants.

We integrate a variety of musical instruments and techniques to create a personalised and immersive therapeutic experience.

Whether learners are playing an instrument, participating in a drumming circle, or simply listening to soothing melodies, our aim is to support their journey to wellness.
